From the HEALTHROOM

Attention Parents/Guardian:

Many tasks must be completed before we can begin our summer break.  One of those tasks is addressing medications in the Health Room.

Medications are NOT held in the Health Room from one school year to the next.  Students are not allowed to carry their own medications as policy states by the State Department of Education.  Therefore, an adult will need to pick up your child’s medication by noon on May 26.  Any medication that is left in the Health Room will be discarded after noon on May 26, 2016

2017 Cross Country Bumpus Middle School

I will see many of you at the Transition night which will be held on May 2nd at Bumpus Middle School.

There will be a parent information meeting on May 9th at 5:30 pm in the Bumpus Middle School Library.  Please enter through the front doors to attend the meeting.

The season starts on the 2nd or 3rd day of school in August and continues into late September.  Practices are Monday - Thursday until approx 5:15.

There are seven (7) documents that must be filled out prior to participating.  I will have these at the meetings.  However, an up to date physical is mandatory to participate.

There will be a spirit pack - pricing for this will be announced at a later date (last year it was $175.00)

We will do a fundraiser -- so please know this because raising money is a big part of the program.

Team Members and Parents will be expected to participate in at least one "Clean the Trails" day.

If you have any questions, please email me at sdoran@hoover.k12.al.us.  I need fast runners, I need slow runners but most of all I do not need kids that are not willing to sacrifice for the team

See you soon

HLH Awareness

We will celebrate the return of one of our dear 6th grade students, James Delano this coming Monday, October 24th.  We will bring awareness to one of the devastating diseases that plague him.  HLH (hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis) We will be providing informational videos to our students on how this desease affects the body.  September is typically the month for HLH awareness, but we decided to wait until James could see our show of support.  On Monday, we are asking all students and staff to wear blue to bring awareness to this dangerous disease that impacts the life of our very own Navigator, James Delano.  We are also asking each student and staff member who can, to bring $1.00 to donate to research for HLH on Monday as well.  Please be sure to wear blue in honor of James and awareness of HLH.  Thank you for your support.

Shoes for Sugarbelle

THANK YOU to all who have been able to send shoes! We are still collecting and would love to beat our goal from last year of 300 pairs! :)
The Earthsavers/Science Club will be sponsoring Shoes for Sugarbelle this year. Boxes will be set up in the front lobby for collection October 1-31. So, if you have any unwanted shoes, please send them to us!
Sugarbelle Foundation is a registered 501-c3, whose mission is to keep pets and people together. We accomplish this by providing financial assistance, to the best of our ability, to pet owners and Good Samaritans who have an animal in need, temporary fosters homes, food, and any other necessary items for pets and their people.
All donated shoes are redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of microenterprise partners in developing nations.  Funds2Orgs helps impoverished people start, maintain and grow businesses in countries such as Haiti, Honduras and other nations in Central America and Africa. Proceeds from the shoe sales are in turn to feed, clothe and house their families. Funds2Org believes the HAND UP is more beneficial than the HAND OUT, because it teaches people how to be self sufficient, which is also, what Sugarbelle Foundation strives to do when helping pets and their families.
